I love a Chocolate Bliss Ball but some just have to much natural sweetener for my blood sugars to handle, I do indulge on them even if they are sweet. But I now have an awesome low carb options that the kids are not so keen on as they are very dark, so they are all mine and they hit my sweet cravings away. There are many options within this simple recipe but my favourite would have to be to add a little peppermint or wild orange essential oil.
I love my morning Hot Chocolate, I'm not a coffee drinker, however sometimes I add a little Cold Pressed Coffee to my Hot Chocolate. I know most of you probably are coffee drinkers but this recipe can be combined with coffee or might give a few ideas on increasing your coffees fat content. I created it to assist my morning fasting, it gives me enough fat and protein but still low carbohydrate and high fat (LCHF). Thus keeping my Blood Sugar Levels stable in the morning, and sustains my hunger.
Homemade yogurt is so simple and you can make 2L for the cost of 2L of milk. It is a habit I created over 3 years ago and I must admit I use a Thermomix to make my yogurt, it does take some guess work out. But all you need if you don't have a thermomix is a Yogurt maker (insulated container) and a thermometer. I picked up an Aldi Electric yogurt maker for jars a few years ago and I like it to make 24 hour yogurt in this one. The longer you ferment the less lactose left however 26-30 hrs is maximum, so I do about 24 hrs and then in the fridge.
Eggplants are everywhere in our garden at the moment. I've have had many suggestions on ways to cook them but this is my go too. It is so easy and you can add whatever other greens you have like zucchini or broccoli. This recipe goes great with meat, eggs or zucchini noddles. Little Miss E enjoys the zucchini noodle option, what won her over was that it smells just like pasta when it's cooking. My other favourite is to batter sliced eggplant in egg and almond meal and then fry.

When I was on holidays over the summer I treated myself to some new ones, I hadn’t purchased any in a while, as l do find many recipes on the internet. But there is nothing like holding the book in your hands. So I sunk into the cookbooks at Big W, so many chooses but I settled on these 3.

The reason I’ve chosen to share their favourites is because we do photo recipe cards as gifts at Christmas (might be an idea you can use this year), as I get to take a cute photo of them to give as a gift that also has a purpose with the recipe on the back.
I just had to share this creation from today. The flavours totally satisfied my taste buds, so I hope you enjoy it too. Just add the following ingredients to your bread recipe (for ideas see my gluten free bread post). The bread recipe I used was similar to this Paleo Bread. The flavours complement each other leaving you very satisfied after eating, if your bread has a sweetener use honey as it just adds too the beautiful combination.
Here is a little collection of my favourite gluten free bread recipes. One belief that feels right to me, is that we eat too much gluten for what our bodies can handle. As a family we currently still eat gluten but I like to try and reduce our gluten with recipes like the ones below.
The perfect slice to have handy for snacks or breakfast on the run. It is soft but not crumbly, and very versatile. I'm always changing the nut, seed and dried fruit combinations, and other extras to include are:
- spices like cinnamon and vanilla
- fresh fruit (great for those brown bananas)
The chocolate isn't a necessity, it tastes great without it. My children thought it was a real treat to have a little chocolate on top, my Mr X called it "Scribble Slice".
These biscuits are a winner with everyone in our house, a wonderful substitute to the traditional Anzac biscuits.
